Vinodhini is originally from India, where she received her Bachelors in Engineering and IT. In 2013, her husband’s job required them to move across the world to Connecticut, USA. However, without an employer to sponsor her, Vinodhini had to wait years to receive an American work visa. Not knowing how long the delay would last, she picked up some work as a freelance iOS developer.
In March 2021, Vinodhini was looking for volunteer opportunities to enhance her technological skill set. She was already certified in cloud-computing programs like Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). She found Greenstand, which combined her passion for helping the environment and learning new technologies. As a member of the cloud team, she assisted with importing infrastructure to the cloud and writing infrastructure code. Since joining the Greenstand team, she has gotten advanced practice with cloud computing, including a new certification in Terraform. These new skills landed her a full-time job in the fall of 2021!
Vinodhini’s favorite part of her work at Greenstand is the cloud team meetings. She referred to them as “a repository of your mind” where 5-6 other cloud team members bring ideas and research on new technologies for discussion. She enjoys learning from other contributors and collaborating to bring our open-source project to life. These meetings fuel her passion for learning and foster a sense of community among our global contributors.
In Vinodhini’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 6-year-old daughter. They like walking along local beaches and in nature preserves in the New England area.
